RTF Presents: PSSP13 - The fun, joy and the aftermath @ 5/8/2002 10:08:00 PM
Starting from last Friday, All DDRer's on the eastern coastline of Australia have been sent into Red Alert mode because of this: Perfect Step Sound Party (Round 13), the biggest National DDR competition in Australia, organise by the Ranking Task Force (RTF).

As the Sydney Leader (and now Canberra, the REAL capital of Australia) of the RTF, I have the pleasure of organising the competition in Sydney for a bunch of hooligans who can turn into freaks and monsters when they stand up on the DDR platform.

The official check-in time for the competition was 11:30am at Playtime, the arcade which the competition is held. By the time everybody was checked in, it was already 12:05pm and according to the original timetable, we were meant to start at 12:00pm sharp - we're 5mins behind schedual already!

We did the double section first. It was interesting because there's only 5 people entered and there's only 5 rounds: that means i need to kick 1 person out per round. Michael@RTF/EST, our number 1 player in Sydney and also the Defending Champion of the Double section, was given some serious pressure by Ryan, a newbie in competition and also soon to be the co-leader of RTF Canberra with me. Michael woned by the slightest margin in the final round and came 1st again.

Next up was the Expert Scoring Section. About 15 of us was registered for it and 2 was kicked out after every round. Similarly, the highlight of the Expert section was put on the battle between Michael and Ryan, who surely can outplay anyone on the day. There was only 4 people left in the final round of the section: Michael, Ryan, Pete and Andrew. They need to do the PARANOiA Bros. Oni course in DDRMAX2 and Pete was the first to bow out because he failed it. The remaining 3 passed and Michael eventually took the crown for the Expert Section again for the 2nd time in a row.

The final section of the day was Perfect Attack. The idea is to get as many Perfects as possible. Only abt 8 of us entered, and whoever doesnt full combo the song, they are kicked out of the section straight away. There was only 5 left in the final round: me, Michael, Ryan, Cat and Andrew. 3 of us didnt full combo Candy(heavy) and Michael just beat Ryan by 20 greats. Both of them full comboed the song too.

In the end it was Michael who took out all of the 3 available sections in Sydney.

To end the day off, we had some performances. First on was me. I did the tuned-down version of my oiriginal 'Its Raining Men' performance because i didnt have the raincoat and umbrella that i needed for the full version. But still, i walked like an Egyptian and jumped on the machine and shouted "ITS RAINING MEN" and got everyone to sing along with me. It was by far the funniest performance there on the day.

Next was Ray. I dont know if it was a coincidence, but he too, chose "Its Raining men" for his performance and did stuff that was similar to me. But everyone got bored of his cause i did it already.

Last on was Michael and Jeff. They did the Brillent 4 U (Orchastra Groove) routine which was done before in PSSP12th but it stunned the crowd with Jeff's rolls, spins and the bar tricks.

After that, it was the end of the competition. Everyone was tired by then but I have invited everyone down to Easy Way (Sydney people should know this) for a drink. We then went back for some casual rounds of DDRMAX2, Drum Mania 6thMix, Guitar freaks 7thMix and ParaParaParadise 2ndMix.

There is also some unplesant stuff that went on during the competition, one of them was the 2 people who just pushed their way through to play on the EZ2Dancer: 2ndMove machine which was supposed to be turned off and not be played so its music wont cover the music from the DDR machine.

And when i got home that night, i had all these paperwork and scores to be typed into a Excel file to send it off for calculation by the RTF Team Leader: Edward@RTF (who should be back in Japan by now).

But overall, it was a well organised competition and we're now waiting for the results from Edward.

The next round of competition will be held in August, so i look forward in seeing more people turning up!

Lastly, congrats to all the winners on the day!
